Hugo's Place was once a dairy farm where salted cream was shipped out by horse and cart. As the soil failed it produced beef then sheep then weeds!
For the last 20 years the management has been to improve the soil to allow most of the land to grow native forest.

Hugo's Place includes nearly 4kms of foreshore and beach on the Aotea harbour. At low tide there are extensive sandflats.

Although Hugo's has a lot of wildlife there are also lots of places where a dog can run free without risk of harming anything.
